Russian NGOs under fire again
Prosecutors in Moscow have launched major inspections at several non-governmental organisations, Radio Echo of Moscow reports. Elena Panfilova, director of Transparency International Russia, said the prosecutor's office has sent faxes to numerous organisations demanding an enormous amount of documents regarding their activities and financial operations. Information about the inspections came at the same time as many of the leaders of the organisations were attending a session of the Presidential Civil Society and Human Rights Council. Organisations targeted include the Center for the Development of Democracy and Human Rights, the election watchdog GOLOS, the Moscow Helsinki Group, and many others, Ms Panfilova said. http://echo.msk.ru/news/710512-echo.phtml
